Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 September 2026
Shopsafrik, based in Delta State, Nigeria, provides website building and online store services at shopsafrik.com. This policy explains how we handle personal information. Contact us at support@shopsafrik.com.
Information we use
We collect account and business details you provide, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, business addresses, website content and uploaded files. Store checkout can collect customer contact and delivery details, order items, amounts and payment references. We also use session information, security logs and records of account activity to operate and protect the service.
Passwords and verification codes are stored as hashes for authentication. Verification emails necessarily contain the code during delivery. Payment card details are handled by Paystack; Shopsafrik retains transaction references, payment status and limited payment summaries rather than full card numbers or card security codes. If you add a passkey, we store its public key, identifier, device label and usage information. Fingerprint and facial data are handled by your device or passkey provider and are not received by Shopsafrik.
Why we use information
We use information to create accounts, verify email addresses, host websites, process orders and subscriptions, provide support, prevent fraud, enforce our terms and meet legal obligations. Depending on the activity, our basis is performing a contract, complying with law, legitimate interests in operating a secure service, or consent where required. You can remove an optional passkey in account settings. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting processing already lawfully completed.
Merchants and their customers
A merchant is responsible for its own store content, customer relationships and lawful use of customer information. For merchant-directed store processing, Shopsafrik acts as a service provider; for platform accounts, billing and security, Shopsafrik determines the relevant purposes of processing. Customers should first contact the merchant about their orders and the merchant’s use of information. We will assist with requests relating to our own processing.
Sharing and international processing
We share necessary information with hosting and email providers, payment processors, the merchant fulfilling an order and service providers supporting the platform. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect rights and prevent abuse. These providers may process information outside Nigeria; applicable safeguards and legal requirements apply to such transfers. Public website content you publish is visible to visitors. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and security
We use essential session cookies for sign-in, security and shopping functions. Blocking these cookies may prevent the service from working. Optional advertising or analytics cookies, if introduced, will be explained and consent requested where required. We use access controls, encrypted connections where deployed, password hashing and separation of merchant records. No service can guarantee complete security; report suspected incidents to support.
Retention and account deactivation
We retain information while it is needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or meet accounting and other legal duties. Retention depends on the record and applicable requirements. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes and are invalidated when used or replaced.
The “Delete account” option deactivates your account: sign-in is disabled, active sessions and passkeys are invalidated, and websites you own go offline. It does not automatically erase business, order, payment or audit records. Contact support for reactivation or a separate erasure request. We will assess deletion requests against applicable retention obligations and explain any information that must be retained.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. Email support@shopsafrik.com; we may verify your identity before responding. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng. We do not knowingly offer merchant accounts to children under 18; contact us if you believe a child’s information was submitted improperly.
Changes
We will update this page and its effective date when the policy changes and provide additional notice where appropriate or legally required.
